10 Most Iconic Swords In Gaming History

6. Frostmourne

As for a sword that is certainly giving Excalibur but should not be confused with it, Frostmourne is the weapon wielded by The Lich King in World of Warcraft. Electing just one supreme sword from the throng of available options in an RPG this sprawling is a tall order but Frostmourne with its ability to consume the souls of whomever it defeats is absolutely up there with the deadliest.

If you need a refresher, the cinematic trailer for Wrath of the Lich King establishes not just the enormous threat of the man himself, but the power and brutality of his chosen weapon.

Not to mention how damn cool it looks. Capable of felling kings, destroying armies, turning living victims into undead, and that whole ‘shattering the very souls of those it destroys’ thing we mentioned, the mournblade has more than earned its reputation. Unsurprisingly, the sword’s drop rate is extremely low, which makes sense given this is the same sword that ate the soul of Prince Arthas when he used it to defeat Mal’Ganis.

As the cursed sword’s flavour text reads, Hail to the king, Baby.
