9. Shells Mario Kart
Forget about your jock headshots for a minute; hitting an opponent with a superbly placed Green Shell in Mario Kart is still for me one of the most satisfying displays of gamer skill that its possible to pull off. Still, the heat-seeking Red shells are clearly more advantageous, and in one fell swoop can entirely change the shape of the race. And Blues; forget about it. Blue Shells can turn even the sweetest of players into foul mouthed dock workers in a matter of seconds. Be careful though. Sometimes youre hoisted on your own petard. But considering theyve been in every Mario Kart game since the 1992 Snes Original and the fact that youre practically guaranteed to have played at least one of them since then means that its definitely one of the most iconic.
