Over a decade after its initial release, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is still hailed as one of the best RPGs ever made. And while some aspects of the combat and character models haven't aged so well over the past ten years, Skyrim nevertheless holds up as an engrossing gaming experience.

What makes Skyrim work so well all these years later is that its world feels as alive as it is massive. Even after 100 hours of gameplay, there's always going to be another quest to complete or dungeon to explore - and that's not even considering the expansions.

Skyrim is a game that entices you to explore a little further to see what you could uncover. While travelling to a location for one quest, the silhouette of an undiscovered ruin or cave on the player's compass is enough to take them on detour after detour just to see what other secrets Skyrim has in store. And before they know it, players' journals will be overflowing with side quests and other objectives to put off becoming the dragonborn for another dozen hours.

From snowy settlements on the tallest mountains to strange subterranean areas hidden underneath ruins, there's always new adventures to be discovered.
