FromSoftware have been known for their phenomenal world design ever since players battled their way through Dark Souls. In Elden Ring, however, Miyazaki and his team took this to a whole new level in which exploration, combat, and discovery are united in perfect harmony.

From the moment players opens the doors of the first dungeon to get their first glimpse at The Lands Between, everything before them is meant to be explored. But where Elden Ring distinguishes itself from other large open worlds is that exploration is paramount to the experience.

Unlike most games, Elden Ring has no waypoints and very few map markers. Instead, players are forced to explore every area to discover new dungeons, bosses, and other spectacular surprises. Just when you think you’re making progress, a surprise discovery could lead you to a whole new location you had no idea existed.

Moreover, exploring this world is never a chore. Its gorgeous and compelling design beckons players to peek around every corner to see what’s there. And if said thing is a boss that proves to be too tough, The Lands Between are big enough to find many more adventures to embark on before coming back when you're better prepared.
