However, due to his own individual experiences within Castle Oblivion, this replica of Riku actually embraces the darkness within him, rather than fearing it. This leads him into conflicts with Sora, due to his determination to protect Naminé.

After trying and failing to beat the original Riku, this replica is then taunted and manipulated further by members of the Organisation. This includes having his memories fabricated and rewritten by Naminé to benefit the Organisation.

He spends most of the game determined to protect her, even when she shatters both his false memories and heart. He also continues to rely on the darkness for power, and after a final confrontation with the original Riku, the Riku replica is defeated.

Within this game, the latter is seen as no more than a toy to the Organisation and despite his best efforts, he is unable to carve out and maintain his own identity beyond his attachment to Riku.
