10 Most Infuriatingly Awkward Video Game Levels Of All Time

9. Pillars Of Hades - God Of War

If there's one thing God of War certainly didn't need, it's a climbing section. Or rather, something that feels like it fell out the back of a C-grade SNES platformer, one where 'timing is key' and trial n' error mentalities were in vogue.

Needless to say, it felt atrocious, Kratos' movements that were formerly used in this capacity to clamber up straight walls with defined pathways, now reconstituted to avoid rotating blades at a second's notice. The kicker? If you get hit, he falls ALL the way back to the bottom. Again, and again, and again.

Yup, it's one of those kinds of levels. Games almost never such things now, as the risk to alienating a portion of any mass consumer demographic is too much, but in 2005? It was restart city.
