10 Most Insane Video Game Leaks Ever
5. StarCraft II: Heart Of The Storm's Ending Leaked Over TWO YEARS Early
StarCraft II expansion pack Heart of the Swarm was eventually released in March 2013 to critical raves, so it was intensely unlucky that a pre-visualisation video of the game's ending sequence, comprised of crude renders and placeholder storyboards, was leaked online in December 2010.
To be clear, that's almost 2.5 years before the game finally shipped, an almost unheard of amount of time for such under-wraps plot information about any video game to leak online, let alone top secret in-progress footage of the ending sequence.
Though Blizzard refused to comment on the leak and many fans assumed the clip was too cheesy to be real, the hasty copyright takedowns and the cinematic being credited to a company that worked with Blizzard both proved plenty convincing.
Ultimately when the game was finally released, the fully polished ending cinematic confirmed the leak was real, much to fans' chagrin.
Quite what anyone would stand to gain from leaking a game's ending so early on, aside from attention of course, remains to be seen. The smart money's on a disgruntled employee doing the dirty deed.
