10 Most Insane Video Game Leaks Ever
6. Someone Bought A PS4 Slim On Gumtree Two Weeks Before The Official Announcement
Though video game leaks themselves are common, video game consoles being physically out in the wild is a virtual impossibility due to most platforms being announced long before they're actually shipped out to retailers.
But in late August 2016, it came to light that an unknown party was selling an at-the-time unannounced PS4 Slim on Gumtree, complete with extensive images of the unit.
Initial reactions were skeptical, with many deeming the design "too ugly" to be real. But after Digital Foundry’s Richard Leadbetter quickly contacted the purchaser of the PS4 Slim and visited his home to test out the unit, along with taking more pictures, it was confirmed to be a real piece of hardware.
Amusingly, Sony didn't actually bother dignifying the leaks with a response, and stuck to their guns by officially announcing the PS4 Slim at a conference two weeks later.
Quite how a Slim found its way on Gumtree, however, remains a fascinating mystery.
