10 Most Memorable GTA Missions: Ranked Worst To Best
3. Out Of Commission/ A Revenger's Tragedy - GTA IV
The GTA franchise amped up the dramatics for the fourth main installment, giving players more dynamic characters to root for and more social satire to chew on. It all comes to a head in the final mission, which actually differs depending on some of the choices you make leading up to it, though structurally they are nearly the same. That's good, because both of these endings represent GTA at its finest.
Depending on whether Niko makes a deal with Dimitri or not, either Roman or Kate will get gunned down during Roman's wedding. This sets Niko off on a mission to get revenge on either Dimitri or Jimmy, and either way this leads to a long chase that eventually ends with Niko killing Jimmy or Dimitri beneath the Statue of Happiness.
However, due to the tragic circumstances that set these events off, there is little to celebrate.
This mission is one long, intense, extended chase sequence, which has you shooting, driving, running, and even flying. This variety of action packed gameplay makes it a whole lot of fun, and when you add on top of that the sobering context surrounding it, it's no wonder this ending leaves a huge impression.
It has real emotional heft, something prior GTA games couldn't quite manage, and that makes it a great ending and one of the best missions of the franchise.
