10 Most Memorable Side-Quests In RPG Game History

Why bother killing Ganondorf when you can look for heart pieces instead?

Games used to have a singular goal for players to aim at. Once this goal is met, it's game over and onto the next game. When investing your time into a video game, you want to get the best possible experience out of it whilst squeezing out the maximum possible playing time. Generally you'd assume a game's best content would take place on the main thread of any given experience, but occasionally the opposite can be true. Developers have dedicated an increasing amount of effort towards content other than a game's main narrative, resulting in an ever-increasing library of games where the prime cut is in the side missions or mini games rather than the usual singular goal players used to aim for. Not that this is a bad thing. Side-quests can not only provide additional nuggets of fun in the context of the larger game, but it can also enrich, strengthen, and even alter a game's main thread as well. In an attempt to find the cream of the crop in terms of additional game content, here are 10 games in which the side-quests not only make the game better but are arguably just as fun, if not more fun, than the main quest itself. As this list covers a heap of video game side-quests and storylines, be aware of potential spoilers.

My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem. Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh. You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
