After stalling out in terms of gameplay and narrative momentum over the first 6 or so Assassin's Creed games, the pirate-centric Black Flag was a much needed shot in the arm. Players were spoiled with a massive 18th century world set in the Caribbean, numerous mini games and side-quests, and the ability to engage in naval combat, this is almost feels like the result if Sid Meier's Pirates! was remade into the current video game generation. With this new setting also came the awesome Templar Hunt side-quest that provided an extra dose of Assassin's Creed goodness. After going through the obligatory introductory missions, players have the option to have Kenway chase after 4 select Templars scattered across the Caribbean for their keys which will lead to some flashy new armour. This mission is particularly memorable as each of the 4 targeted Templars were more surprisingly fleshed out than the average Assassin's Creed red shirt, the differing lead-ups to each target, and the thrill of actually catching and killing all the Templars. The shiny set of Templar armour at the end of it all is just the cherry on top of a thrilling set of pirate assassinations that demonstrate how good Assassin's Creed can be if done properly.
My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem.
Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh.
You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
