7. A BS Zelda 2 Remake

In 1995, Nintendo launched the Satellavision, an unusual Japan-only Super Famicom add-on that allowed the system to download content from satellite broadcasts, sort of like a very primitive Nintendo eShop. One of the titles on offer was a 16-bit remake of the original Legend of Zelda, available for one hour per week and now with radtastic new male and female protagonists.

A spritesheet from the weekend's leak suggests Nintendo planned to follow BS Zelda up with a remake of its much maligned sequel, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. A few things stand out here: this adorable button-nosed Hero of Time is wearing a burgundy tunic, and there appears to be blood dripping from his sword. Nintendo had an almost puritanical censorship policy at the time, so the suggestion they were developing a gory Zelda game defies belief.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
