10 Most Nostalgic Video Game Secrets

3. Blast From The Past - Driver: San Francisco

It’s not uncommon for racing and driving games to have plenty of excellent unlockable vehicles, but it’s very rare that one cascades into something as unique as this secret in Driver: San Francisco.

Beating Sprint Activity 1 nets you the ability to drive in the world’s most stylish time machine: the DeLorean DMC-12. That’s not all that earth shattering by itself but getting the car up to the famous speed of 88MPH truly blew some players minds. There’s no blaze of fire or anything but a surprising text box appears to inform you that you’ve now unlocked “Blast from the Past”.

No, you weren’t suddenly going to be forced to go back to 1955 to make sure your parents had their first date but it was something just as good.

This hidden mission is a call back to the beginning of the Driver franchise; the infamous tutorial that trapped players inside of a parking garage and forbade them from playing the game until they had completed a checklist of driving stunts.

For many players this is as much of the first game as they saw as it was notoriously vague and obtuse, so putting you into a Pontiac and getting you to relive it will either show you how far you’ve come as a player or give you horrible flashbacks.
