10 Most Overlooked Nintendo Games Ever
1. Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland
Tingle is very much a love-hate character within the Legend of Zelda franchise. First appearing in Majora’s Mask on Nintendo 64, western critics didn’t take kindly to him at first but later gathered a cult following after continued appearances. An unlikely star, Nintendo took it upon themselves to commission a spin-off game, releasing on DS in 2007.
Showing Tingle’s transformation from your average middle-aged man to his fairy form, after being called upon by Uncle Rupee, an old man with a Rupee for a head. Offering Tingle a new life in Rupeeland, the premise involves Tingle making as much money as he can traversing dungeons, using this to build up a tower by feeding it rupees.
Featuring a unique combat system where players would assist Tingle in dungeon fights rather than directly control him, it became popular enough to see a (Japan only) sequel two years later with ‘Irozuki Tingle no Koi no Balloon Trip” and the separate Tingle’s Balloon Fight DS, exclusive to the Club Nintendo loyalty scheme.
Whilst largely forgotten since its release, it’s a highly unique title worth exploring.
