5. Lost Judgment

2019's open world crime actioner Judgment was already overlooked, and despite sequel Lost Judgment being poised for the big time, it sadly suffered a similar fate.

As a spin-off to the cult classic Yakuza games, you can expect similar features from this series: namely, OTT combat encounters, a sandbox full of hilariously addictive mini-games and a sweeping, twisty story packed with one jaw-dropping reveal after another.

It's not the perfect sequel, and the narrative's heavy themes do occasionally clash with the tone found in the open world, but there's still plenty in there to enjoy. In a year that's seen the Ubisoft sandbox formula truly driven into the ground, Lost Judgment feels like a breath of fresh air.

Sadly, ongoing rights issues with the lead character's real-life actor (huge Japanese celebrity Takuya Kimura) means the future of the franchise is up in the air at the moment. And as good as the two games we currently have are, let's hope there's more to come.
