10 Most Overrated Video Games Of 2018
1. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
You can pick those pitchforks back up again now, because Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is absolutely unworthy of its 93 Metascore.
Yes, the core gameplay is glorious and local multiplayer is as great as it's ever been, but is it really reasonable to give it Game of the Year-worthy reviews when the online component is such a mess and the main single-player component (World of Light) is a tiresome chore?
Obviously some will disagree about World of Light, but the roughshod online functionality is both undeniable and inexcusable.
Granted, most reviewers posted their scores before online play became available, but considering it's a core aspect of the game, it really does feel like the press at large have been awfully generous with their scores.
An 83-85 Metascore feels more reasonable with the current state of the game, and also because despite its hugely beefed-up roster, Smash Ultimate doesn't do all that much to innovate.
