10 Most Painful Video Game Cliffhangers EVER
4. Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion
Don't we all love a good post-credits scene? Or, more accurately, don't we all love the tantalising future material that post-credits scenes hint at?
Well, Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion gives us both, but if you were holding out hope for that teased continuation to actually mean something, you're going to be pretty disappointed.
The brave sacrifice of the character Joshua Fireseed is a poignant moment in the game, and effectively allows your player character to take his place as Turok from that point on. It also serves as the basis for the entire post-credits scene, in which Adon is convinced she can still save him, and pleads to the council to grant her this request.
They refuse her, however, and she defiantly states that she's going to do it anyway. After she leaves, the council converse with a shady character, the scene implying that her mission is to kill Adon and stop Joshua's return for whatever reason.
Intriguing? Absolutely! Is a sequel on the way? Without a doubt!
Except Acclaim Entertainment never got around to making a direct sequel to Turok 3, and after going bankrupt in 2004, all hope for this painful cliffhanger to pull itself back up was snuffed out for good. Guess Joshua ain't coming back, folks.
