10 Most Pathetic Video Game Characters Ever

8. Dan (Street Fighter)

Ashley Graham From Resident Evil 4
Capcom

Street Fighter's lovable loser will never be thought of highly by competitive players, but he has a soft spot in the heart of every fan of the game. Some players even master his gimped moveset just so they can have the pleasure of embarrassing their opponents.

Made as an intentionally inept character, Dan was created to be a dig at Capcom's rival company, SNK, who produced a similar series to Street Fighter, The King of Fighters. They gave him a wimpy fireball that barely escaped his fist, a pink gi, the same haircut as KOF pugilist, Robert Garcia, and erratic emotions that left him crying even after wins.

Even when he wins in the storyline, it doesn't really count. The victory over Sagat he pulled in Street Fighter Alpha ended up being the result of Sagat throwing the fight because he pitied Dan.

While he does not provide much beyond comic relief, he's still a welcome presence in any world fighting tournament, regardless of whether or not he got invited. If nothing else though, he does a strong place in the Street Fighter lore, being the one to train Sakura, who has grown into both a fan favorite for both the casual audience, and hardcore competitive players.
