10 Most Pathetic Video Game Characters Ever

4. Lester The Unlikely

Very rarely are video game characters deliberately made to be pathetic, even less likely is the deliberately pathetic being the protagonist, but that's what Lester The Unlikely is all about.

This pencil neck geek literally falls asleep reading a comic book on a dock, and ends up becoming a stowaway on a pirate ship, before ending up on a deserted island. This though, is only the start of the issues. The player takes control to find a character that will willingly take it right back, running away from danger rather than just obeying the player's commands.

Sure, by the end of the game he may have overcome his problems, and somehow have earned the affection of an island native, but no amount of rushed character development handled by the game's lame ending will ever be enough to erase the memory of how dorky this character was to control. It's like that kid who tried to do a character change after a bad freshman year of high school. Sure he may dress different, but those memories will always be there.

His gawky running form, bad posture, and the fact that he takes damage from nearly everything in the game turned many players off, leaving this blight on the Super Nintendo's library to become a forgotten piece of trash.
