10 Most Polarizing Characters In Video Games

7. Ashley Graham - Resident Evil 4

GTA 5 Trevor
Capcom

Ashley Graham's character is an interesting case, as it wasn't necessarily her personality that divided Resident Evil's fanbase, so much as the game mechanics related to her.

Ashley is the daughter of the US President that Leon Kennedy needs to rescue in Resident Evil 4. In terms of her attitude, she is an optimistic but level-headed young girl, which makes it really easy for the player to care about her safety and well-being.

However, as friendly as Ashley may appear on paper, her character ends up being really annoying due to a certain mechanic.

Since Ashley is not a fighter, the player needs to protect her by fending off enemies and helping her hide from danger. This may not sound totally bad, but due to the awful pathfinding in Resident Evil 4, Ashley ends up walking into your line of fire, or right into an easily-avoidable bear trap all the time. It doesn't take much time for you to start hating her AI's stupidity.

Despite this, some fans still manage to separate AI Ashley from the way the character was written, and can appreciate her good sides. But of course, others can never forgive her for making them restart the same level over and over again!
