10 Most Powerful Dark Souls Weapons

If you want to deal out some damage in Lordran, these are the weapons you need to pick...

BloodBorne Holy Moonlight Sword
FromSoftware

Your choice of weapon is one of the most important decisions you'll make in a Dark Souls game, second only to your play-style decision; will you prefer light swordplay, dodging left and right to look for an opening in your enemy's attack patterns, or will you be sporting a massive greatsword, ready to crush your enemy with brute strength?

The combat in Dark Souls is balanced so that there isn't, strictly speaking, a single overall "best" weapon for any player character. Theoretically, you could become wed to one of your starting weapons and carry it with you throughout the entire adventure through Lordran.

That being said, there are definitely some weapons out there that are worth seeking out to make your adventure through this challenging game just a little bit easier. These might scale better with your attack stat, have a long reach or offer a somewhat unique moves et that'll offer you some versatility in combat. Any of these weapons will give you some sort of edge in combat.

Whatever your playstyle, upgrade your arsenal for your next playthrough of what many regard to be From Software's magnum opus by picking one of the weapons on this list next time.

10. Great Scythe

The Great Scythe is a non-traditional weapon that has often caused heated debates amongst Dark Souls players, with some once labelling it the best dexterity weapon you could pick up, and others shouting this down for a range of others. I would argue the Great Scythe remains a solid choice for any player.

Acquirable very early on from The Catacombs, the Great Scythe is a long shaft with a wicked-sharp sickle blade attached at the top, and it offers players a unique play-style and move set.

If you learn how to work with the rhythm of attack when using the Great Scythe most effectively, skilled players will make very short work out of any enemies they come into contact with. Just don't whiff, as the Great Scythe acts as a halberd so you'll be left wide open on a missed attack.

Low stat requirements, high base dexterity damage a speedy pattern of attack, an ungodly attack range and bonus bleed damage... what more could you want? Get your head around the slightly wonky angles of attack and work out the best effective fighting range, and you'll be donning a long robe as Lordran's newest Grim Reaper in practically no time at all.
