Up until the late 2000s, the escapades of the world's greatest detective had been mostly hit and miss. Whether it was limited systems or an inability to understand the Batman himself, there seemed to be little chance of a truly great release. That is, until Rocksteady came along in 2009
Just as Batman Begins had done for film four years earlier, Arkham Asylum was wildly successful in revitalising the character in the video game scene. At the time it was the finest game to ever feature the popular hero, taking players on a detailed and lovingly crafted rollercoaster ride.
Batman fights his way through many rogues throughout the game; Bane, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc and Poison Ivy. It could only end with the protaganist's greatest foe as he invites our hero to a party at the asylum's visitor centre. One explosion and a couple of TITAN injections later and we're ready for the final battle.
The fight itself may not be all that memorable, but the knockout blow certainly is. The caped crusader, proclaiming he will never let Joker win, lands an explosive punch on the clown prince of crime to conclude Asylum in a rousing fashion.
