A cult favourite among the Nintendo faithful, Punch-Out! has always been a game of reflexes and exaggerated personalities. It's all about dodging your opponents attacks and laying them flat in the ring. Often times it can get brutally challenging, especially when you start to take on the likes of King Hippo and even Mike Tyson himself.

The original title on the NES and its follow-up on the SNES had fairly basic animations. You beat your opponent, he spins out and falls on the floor. It was the best the basic sprites could do at the time. You felt accomplished on winning, but it wasn't as spectacular a finish as it could be.

When the franchise returned on the Nintendo Wii in 2009, it made sure to reward the player even more for claiming victory. Every boxer has their own unique technical knock-out animation that goes hand in hand with their fighting style as they collapse.

It all builds up to Mr Sandman at the game's conclusion. Your final and most ruthless challenger goes out with the lights blaring, slowly dropping to the floor for the ultimate player victory. This is one case where the upgraded hardware really does add extra impact to Little Mac's final flourish.
