Literally all we have for Metroid Prime 4 is a logo, but when Metroid itself has arrived in a variety of flavours over the years, it's confirmation enough that the most fan-pleasing version is returning.

Last seen in Other M (the most off-putting instalment that messed up Samus' character, but had a cool SNES-meets-motion controls control schemes ever conceived), we have no idea where this story will be set in the canon. Interestingly, in the canon Samus has made a point of separating from the Federation post-Metroid Fusion, opening up the possibilities for her character to explore an even wider variety of planets, meeting a greater array of characters and powers along the way.

Granted, the Prime series came to prominence as the Gamecube's premiere FPS, though that framework never lost the "find item/ability to proceed" foundations that make Metroid such an enjoyable franchise. Prime 4 has a chance to be the first non motion control-requiring instalment since the first on Gamecube (because the Switch needs to be playable on the go), giving fans who don't want to waggle or flail to aim and melee a more tactile experience.
