10 Most Promising PlayStation VR Games Coming In 2016

7. Battlezone

Back in the days when video games were made up of wireframes and looked like something you'd find in a 1960s military command centre, there was Battlezone. The game was one of the first to use a first-person perspective, as you rode a tank around a vast plain, blasting away your rivals. It was revolutionary at the time, and a mainstay in arcades throughout the 80s. The 2015 PlayStation VR reboot of the 80s classic pays tribute to the original game with its simple yet pretty polygon-heavy visuals. It's clearly a game that's aware of the technical limitations of the PS4 in handling the strain that VR puts on the system, and its frugal visuals seem like a good way to keep the in-game action fast and flowing. Refreshingly, Battlezone has no pretensions to trying to capture the reality of warfare, and its self-aware old-school gaminess should benefit the gameplay. Battlezone will feature several tank classes for players to choose from, diverse levels ranging from futuristic cityscapes to deserts, and some kind of flying, glistening fish - are they weapons? Are they just pretty background decorations? Who knows, but they look great along with the rest of this retro-and-proud tank shooter.
