10 Most Replayable Video Games Of 2018
9. Dead Cells
Dead Cells is a blend of old-school platforming and modern "try again" attitudes, creating one of the strongest action games of this year.
At first glance, a dungeon crawler with an unnamed protagonist, it's so much more beneath the surface. Randomly generated levels and item/weapon placement ensures that no two runs are the same. Upon each death, weapons and buffs are removed, meaning you will always end up with mixed weapon sets each time.
You will die. It's a given, but that's not to scare you off. It encourages you to be active, to keep going, to push through until the next temporary hub. Taking the old school approach before save states were available, Dead Cells expects you to push through until you finish/die.
It has the privilege of being positively aggravating: you will swear, you'll get annoyed at where and how you died, how it wasn't your fault. But you will try again, you'll not let this frustrating yet gorgeous game get you down, you will smash it this time.
Maybe.
