4. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The second-oldest series on this list, Smash Bros. has been a dominant staple in Nintendo's catalogue. Starting life on the Nintendo 64 as the embodiment of playground "Link could totally beat up Mario" scenarios, the series has grown exponentially since its first outing.

Despite only being released recently (still counts!), Ultimate has taken the original formula and improved on it tenfold. Boasting a roster of 60+ characters from all aspects of the Big N's back catalogue, SSBU encourages you to keep on that grind. Mostly because a lot of them require unlocking through progression, not paywalls.

That's not a bad thing, though. That's what we had to do with most fighters back in t'day, and that's what made the core game absolutely worth it.

Doesn't mean SSBU is relegated to that single player hustle though. Oh no, not at all.

The heart of Smash has always been its multiplayer. Get some friends round, or brave it online, and Smash the Ultimate hell out of them.
