10 Most Shameful Video Game Releases Of All Time

8. Anthem

Call of duty modern warfare 3
Bioware

Anthem is the gold standard on how NOT to make a game. Firstly, BioWare was blunt how the online multiplayer shooter would be a work-in-progress upon release. It goes without saying that telling potential customers that the product they're selling is unfinished is not a great business model.

Grinding plays a large part in the gameplay, which was a complaint also aimed at Bungie's Destiny - the title that BioWare were looking to knock-off the pedestal with Anthem. Although long loading screens are annoying, the game tops itself by having MULTIPLE loading screens just to get from Point A to Point B (especially in multiplayer). That's without getting into the broken microtransaction system.

Even if Anthem had none of these issues, the game itself is surprisingly plain. No character stands out. The missions rarely get more elaborate than "shoot the baddies". None of the weapons leave an impact. There isn't a single plot-point that stays with players. In fact, what was the story again?

Considering BioWare spent six years on this project, you have to wonder what they were doing half the time if this was the best they could do.
