10 Most Shameful Video Game Releases Of All Time

7. CrossfireX

Call of duty modern warfare 3
Smilegate Entertainment

The success of Smilegate's online shooter, Crossfire, was unprecedented. Being the top-grossing online game of 2014 and bagging over a billion users, the tactical FPS is a titan in the gaming industry. So, when the creators collaborated with the guys behind Max Payne and Alan Wake for the sequel, it sounded like a match made in heaven.

That's why it's tragic to see how badly Smilegate and Remedy dropped the ball. Due to the primitive shooting mechanics, plain campaigns, microscopic maps, and embarrassing lack of modes, CrossfireX feels like a rip-off, even while playing the free version.

Connecting to a server is always a gamble. It's so slow, even manoeuvring around the menus takes forever. There is a constant bug that impairs the player's ability to aim, making it nearly impossible to hit the target unless the bullet-time mode is utilised (which is the game's only saving grace).

Normally, developers would do everything they can to salvage a mess like this. However, Smilegate quickly recognised CrossfireX was a lost cause, compelling them to shut down the servers after only a year.
