10 Most Soulless Cash-Ins In Video Game History

5. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

With the release of Resident Evil 6 and Operation Raccoon City, 2012 looked like the year that could have killed the Resident Evil series for good. But before the final nail in the coffin that was Resident Evil 6 arrived, Operation Raccoon City provided the ominous foreshadowing that signalled the demise of the franchise. A half-baked third person shooter set in the same universe as the main series, the game played almost like the exact antithesis of what everyone originally loved about the core Resident Evil experience. Bearing little resemblance to the main franchise itself, the entire Resident Evil theme seemed tacked on to an otherwise instantly forgettable shooter. While playing through the title you can't quite escape the feeling that without the name recognition that allowed the game a lot of mainstream press, this brainless zombie of a third person shooter would have ended up as a nothing more than a low budget download-only game you€™d find at the bottom of the Steam sale.
