10 Most Terrifying Areas In Non-Horror Games

9. The Mutant Nests - Rage 2

A Borderlands-esque shooter, anyone coming into Rage 2 was likely expecting that the only tense moments they'd experience were desperately trying to save themselves from an enemy they'd underestimated.

While the mutant next areas littered across the (actually surprisingly small) map will certainly provide you this kind of thrill, they actually also turn out to be surprisingly spooky, as well.

The claustrophobic areas - combined with the enemies that literally pour into arenas at some points - can make exciting battles suddenly turn terrifying when you realise you've either run out of bullets, or otherwise sprinted into a dead end.

It pales in comparison to some many other games, sure, but few areas manage to be as surprisingly terrifying as these dens of scum and villainy.
