10 Most Underrated & Overlooked Nintendo Switch Games
4. Tumbleseed
Describing how this game works is impossible from just one screenshot, you really need to see it in action:
Almost like the digital equivalent of a wooden marble maze, you literally only control the green line, with one analogue stick each directly adjusting the left and right sides. This lets you navigate the environment in a pretty unique way, rolling in and out of quest-givers' huts, and also avoiding obstacles as you attempt to climb higher and higher, Doodle Jump-style.
Categorised as a roguelike due to the inevitability of how many times you'll die, each new 'run' comes with a fresh batch of levels, being they're all procedurally generated. Atop that, a variety of powers such as dropping bombs or being able to deflect enemy attacks keeps things fresh, but always remember that your seed's motions are tied to the momentum of that one horizontal line.
Insanely unique, awkward at first but ultimately providing a very rewarding sense of flow, Tumbleseed is right at home in the Switch's two main modes of play.
