5. Graceful Explosion Machine

Many screenshots of GEM look positively chaotic, mainly down to developers Vertex Pop creating a twin-stick shoot 'em up that specialises in letting you blow up as much stuff as possible.

Utilising the HD Rumble feature to make your ship whir and burst in time with whatever movements and weapons you're using, your repertoire consists of a standard blaster, long-range beam, missile flurry and rotary blade attack. Combined you'll burn through your energy meter incredibly fast, forcing you to consider precisely when to attack, dodge and keep your distance.

As a studio, Vertex Pop have mentioned they're "on a mission" to perfect the twin-stick shooter genre and make it feel as responsive and enjoyable as possible. As such, Graceful Explosion Machine is a whizzbang explosion of combo-builders, neon colours and set of primal shapes that'll sear themselves into your brain.

It's pretty damn special.
