If there's one superhero who's proved he can have staying power in videogames, it's Spider-Man!

Universally beloved for his high-flying, web-swinging antics, he's just fun to play as, and there's no wonder he's been starring in games since the early 80's.

At the time of writing, Spidey has starred in or appeared in just shy of 40 videogames. Some of these are your all-time classics like Insomiac's Spider-Man, or Beenox's Spider-Man 2, but a large amount of Spidey's gaming backlog has been completely forgotten about.

That's a real shame - if you wade through some of the titles which just weren't up to scratch, there's quite a few Spidey games that are totally underrated, very much worth your time, and are the perfect way to kill some time while waiting for Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 to come out in 2023.

Which of these ten are worth dusting off and enjoying? Let's swing into action and find out, shall we?

10. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

If you've seen and enjoyed the superb Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse film, or Spider-Man: No Way Home, you know how cool it is when the multiverse gets involved and different Spider-Men get the chance to show us what they can do.

Way before all this multiverse was trendy, the 2010 game Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions introduced the concept of playing as various different Spider-Men.

In Shattered Dimensions, you'll get the chance to play as four very different Spider-Men, each with their own universe and unique abilities. These four Spideys are The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Man 2099 and Ultimate Spider-Man.

For example, you might play as Spider-Man Noir, whose sections have a distinct stealthy element requiring using shadows to escape the gaze of enemies. Or you might play as Spider-Man 2099, with his unique freefall abilities and bullet-time slowdown.

As with any good Spidey game, this one also includes plenty of unlockable costumes too. Each version of Spidey gets four different costumes to unlock.
