10 Most Underrated Spider-Man Games
9. Spider-Man Vs The Kingpin
Did you know that this one was so popular, it led to a surge of comic-book style games being released on the Mega Drive/Genesis? Probably not - criminally, Spider-Man vs the Kingpin seems to be have been forgotten to the sands of time.
First released in 1991 for the Genesis and Master System, the Genesis version is far superior to the Master System variant. This is the first game ever released that really captured the essence of what it is to be Spider-Man, taking great inspiration from the comics and also incorporated an element of Peter Parker's financial struggles in the game by tasking you with taking pics of your enemies as you went through, purely to raise money to buy more web fluid!
The game itself is a side-scrolling platformer where Spidey can brawl with enemies, crawl up walls, cling to ceilings, web swing and come face-to-face with a classic Spidey rogues galley including the likes of the Lizard, Electro, Sandman, Hobgoblin and Doctor Octopus.
If you want even more out of your Spidey vs the Kingpin series, try the Mega CD version, released two years later in 1993. This enhanced version features animated scenes - and in a rarity for Megadrive games - they're even voice acted!
