10 Most Underrated Video Games Of 2017

8. Outlast 2

If there's one certainty about Outlast 2, it's that it's nowhere near as tight or as polished as its predecessor. That doesn't mean the title is necessarily worse however, and in fact the high points of the sequel far outmatch anything found in the original game.

Swapping the claustrophobic corridors of the Mount Massive asylum for the religious-cult-infested wilderness of Arizona, the open levels don't lend themselves as well to highly scripted scares or set-pieces, but they more than make up for it with a palpable atmosphere of pure dread.

The sequel moves into far more surreal territory than ever before as well, all the while cranking the body horror up to 11. Mutilated genitals, gruesome torture and literal crucifixions are all par for the course, making Outlast 2 one of the most unrelentingly intense horror games of the year.
