Despite taking an extra year off, the launch of Assassin's Creed: Origins was far from smooth sailing, with bugs, glitches, and a slow-build introduction all pointing towards it being another dud entry into the franchise.

While it didn't make the best first impression though, the revamped sequel revealed itself to be an exceptional open-world experience the more hours players put into it, with fans slowly realising that the title was one of the best ever instalments in the franchise.

Not only had the combat, missions and traversal system been completely altered, but Origins also boasted a genuinely jaw-dropping playground for players to get lost in that had an almost Breath of the Wild level of detail.

Though some burned-out fans steered clear of the title, especially after first-impressions revealed the amount of bugs and problems that the game front-loads, the latest Assassin's Creed has more than re-energised the stagnant series.
