7. King Bob-omb
Arguably one of the most iconic characters never to be playable in a Mario spin-off game, poor old King Bob-omb has spent years being beaten up as the first boss in Super Mario 64.
While it may be confusing to have a sentient leader of the Bob-omb items as a playable racer, he would be distinguishable by his proud crown and moustache. He later appeared as a boss in Mario Kart DS, but across all Mario spin-offs he has sadly never been playable. Perhaps Mario Kart Tour will be his crowning moment... just don't hit this guy with a Bob-omb.
