Shadow of the Colossus was originally released on the PlayStation 2 back in 2005, and is considered an all time classic. Cut to 2018, when the game was remade from the ground up for new and returning fans alike.

Shadow is very simple in its storytelling: a boy and his horse set out to slay 13 massive colossi. The colossi vary in type, abilities, size, and ways to be killed, making every fight feel almost completely different than the one before it. The scope of the colossi remain awe inspiring 15 years on, and each one is truly a spectacle to behold.

Having a story made up of only boss fights is a risky move, but it pays off extremely well. It is a great time fighting each one and leads to a finale that no one saw coming.

This game still feels special nearly 15 years after its release. The 2018 version also made several improvements to make the original game feel new again. Besides the obvious inclusion of better graphics and improved audio, the 2018 version also boasts a new control scheme that is much more fluid than the Japanese style controls of the original edition. This remake successfully takes a historic game and makes it fresh for a new generation.
