Usually, games developers show a little self-restraint in hurling difficult obstacles in the player's path. Natural development of the player's skill as they learn the intricacies of a digital world's mechanics sets them up for the finale, where every concept introduced prior must be combined to ensure victory.

Not Battletoads. In its quest to ensure nobody, except, perhaps, for those naturally gifted with Matrix-like reflexes made it to the credits, Rare decided on making Turbo Tunnel the third of its 13 hellish courses, though, for the majority, it may as well have been the last - nothing but pitch-perfect manoeuvres would see your poor toad over the finishing line.
