10 Needless Video Game Features We Could All Do Without

2. Unskippable Cutscenes

Most games these days will have cutscenes, they're a major source of story exposition and allow the developers to show off some of their best pre-generated graphics. However, when a cutscene can't be skipped, it can be highly irritating for a player. Admittedly, most gamers will watch cutcenes on their first play through of a game, but if a new game is needed or you decide to play again, cutscenes can be a huge pain. One infamous example of this is in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. A long, uninteresting scene in which you ride on a horse driven cart with several other prisoners plays, which takes several minutes to get through. As annoying as they can be, leaving out a skip feature does make players watch and pay attention to the story, which could be for their own sake if the overall plot becomes complex and complicated. Admittedly, forced cutscenes do have a purpose, it's not as if developers include them just to antagonize us.
