10 New Game Plus Features We Should've Started With

1. First-Person Mode - Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne

Star Wars Jedi Survivor
Atlus

Atlus strikes again, and while this mode isn't nearly as vital as most of the other features on this list, it's still deeply peculiar to lock it behind game completion all the same.

Though the first two Shin Megami Tensei games saw players explore dungeons from a first-person perspective, this was changed to a third-person viewpoint for the third game.

The reason for this? The developers wanted to focus players' attention more on the game's half-demonic protagonist.

And yet, players who beat the game could switch to first-person during exploration on their second playthrough... because reasons. To this very day the fanbase remains baffled that such a basic, out-of-the-box feature of the previous games was gated behind New Game Plus for the threequel.

Even with the developers' rationale for the perspective change, say it loudly and proudly once more: options are a good thing. Locking the first-person viewpoint behind a repeat playthrough for a 50-hour game is just cruel.
