10 Nintendo Games To Keep You Happy Until The Next Metroid
5. Eternal Darkness
If you love Metroid based only on the moody atmosphere and kickass female lead, Eternal Darkness could be right up your street. To go into the plot here would take up most of everybody's week, but needless to say there are plenty of twists and turns, and some wibbley wobbley timey wimey goings on as you relive past experiences of a wide cast of characters, including a Roman Centurion and a Persian swordsman.
It's not strictly a Metroidvania game in any real sense. It's predominately a survival horror game with little emphasis on combat and a heavy focus on puzzle solving... but the creepy atmosphere that pervades throughout will more than scratch the itch of any fan longing to jump back into the immersive Metroid universe. Of course, Resident Evil 4 would be on this list for the reasons, but it didn't stay a Gamecube exclusive for very long... sigh.
