10 No-Brainer Video Game Sequels That DIDN'T Get Made
2. Prey 2
Having spent over a decade in development, the release of Prey in 2006 vindicated Human Head Studios. As Tommy Tawodi, the player finds themselves battling the hideous alien forces of the Sphere.
Prey's strong trappings in sci-fi horror made it a cult classic and as the ending proclaimed that it would continue, Human Head Studios got to work on the follow-up. It was set to take place in a vast dystopian city in which bounty hunter and marshall Killian Samuels would traverse. The game's reveal trailer, though pre-rendered, had a lot of ambition behind it, but Prey 2 would find itself trudging along in development.
Following an acquisition by Bethesda, Prey 2's production would quietly end in 2011 and the game was subsequently cancelled. It was reported that disagreements had arisen between Human Head and the publisher. The Prey property would not end entirely as a new version of the game would be produced by Arkane Studios instead.
The new Prey certainly has its merits, most notably with its unique combat system and mind-bending story. Be that as it may, some areas of the community still wonder what Prey 2 could have been. Perhaps it could have predated Cyberpunk 2077 by nearly a decade.
