In Braid, the combination of puzzle platformer and time travel mechanics gives way to a unique game in which nothing is as it seems. Hidden behind a familiar and simple enough conceit of a hero attempting to rescue a damsel in distress, as Braid develops, it becomes a far more complex animal, and an ingenious one that deserves even Without making themselves known to players, there exists 8 collectable stars (a nod to Mario) which are notoriously difficult to obtain, but that didn't stop gamers from trying their hardest. One requires the exact timing of a long sequence of events, and the other requires patience as the player must stand in one spot for over an hour. Chances are, that last one was left untouched by some of the less committed players out there. Collecting these stars affects the entire story, as a replaying of the final level after the stars have been discovered will reveal a symbolic message that ties in with some of the more cryptic phrases from the epilogue.
