10 Obscure Video Game Endings You've Never Seen

3. The Musical Ending - The Last Of Us

Tomb Raider Underworld
Naughty Dog

Now to be completely fair, you could be forgiven for missing this obscure alternate ending to The Last of Us considering that it isn't actually in the game itself.

Rather, Naughty Dog released a video of it a few months after the game's release, and it sheds a whole, hilarious new light on that jaw-dropping final confrontation in the hospital.

In the video, game director Neil Druckmann explains that while directing performance capture for Joel (Troy Baker) and Marlene's (Merle Dandridge) climactic showdown, he secretly asked Dandridge to act the scene out in song without Baker's prior knowledge.

But hilariously, Baker quickly falls into line and starts singing Joel's lines back to her, leading to this hilariously off-kilter alternate ending of-sorts, where Joel and Marlene work through some very serious s**t in booming singing voices.

It's obviously just a gag and in no way canon, but hearing Dandridge and Baker's dulcet tones belting out the game's dialogue is like no video game "ending" you've ever seen before. Glorious.
