10 Obscure Video Game Endings You've Never Seen

2. Lara Kills Amanda - Tomb Raider: Underworld

Tomb Raider Underworld
Crystal Dynamics

Tomb Raider: Underworld sees Lara Croft facing off against her former best friend Amanda Evert, though at game's end the pair realise they need to team up in order to survive and defeat the evil Natla.

The former pals then end up going their separate ways, and that's that. However, dataminers eventually discovered a secret, deleted ending hidden within the game code which sees Lara resolve her acrimonious relationship with Amanda far more definitively.

After the pair escape the Nepalese temple, Amanda reveals her true duplicitous nature and tries to kill Lara once more, running towards her with a giant rock.

Lara quickly responds by shooting her in the leg, though can't bring herself to fire another bullet and finish the job. And so as Lara walks away, Amanda attempts to get up and continue the fight, but collapses back to the ground and presumably succumbs to the elements.

It's an intriguingly cold-blooded ending, albeit one that feels a bit insincere compared to Lara and Amanda simply heading off on their own adventures.

Plus, it makes no sense at all that Amanda would try to kill Lara this way, knowing full well that she was rocking a couple of pistols.
