7. Braid - Alternative Ending
Jonathan Blow's beautiful time-bending platformer is defined by clever, challenging puzzles that will test your resolve and patience in the most soothing way imaginable. For the most part, the puzzles are sublimely designed, with each world offering variations on your ability to rewind and fast-forward time. But the way in which you unlock the game's hidden ending is as much a challenge of attrition as it is puzzle-solving. To get it, you need to collect eight stars scattered throughout the game, and not in the clean-and-simple Super Mario way either. The stars are extremely hard to acquire; some of them need to be collected in specific order, while to get another one you must wait for an hour in order for a cloud to appear and create a path for you. And then there's the little matter of you not being allowed to die at all in the whole playthrough of the game...
