10 Obvious Video Game Traps You Definitely Fell For

5. The Gil Cave - Final Fantasy V

God of War Trap
Square Enix

When you first find the secret path to the south of the Gil Cave, nothing seems too off about the fact the game gives you 10 gil. After all, that's not exactly a wealth of riches, and you did just discover a clearly hidden area.

Then you walk a couple more steps, and get 20 gil. And then 40. And then so on, until you really should have cottoned on to the fact that something suspicious is definitely going on.

Continue on the path, and you'll meet the Gil Turtle, which is a very sweet name for an absolutely brutal enemy.

The undead terrapin is a serious opponent. Not only does he hit with some serious physical damage, but whenever you harm him, he'll counter with another huge hit. It can also use Earthquake, which does some serious damage unless you have the foresight to cast float on your whole party beforehand.

The fight is hard enough that most players recommend using a specific party layout down to equipment for dealing with this bad beastie.
