10 Obvious Video Game Traps (You Walked Into Anyway)
1. "It's Dangerous To Go Alone! Take This..." - I Wanna Be The Guy
I Wanna Be the Guy is a delicious parody of numerous classic video games, such as Super Mario Bros., Metroid, Castlevania, Mega Man, and best of all, The Legend of Zelda, enough that you absolutely should've seen this blatantly cheeky ruse coming.
At one point in the game you'll enter a dungeon which looks near-identical to the opening cave from the original Legend of Zelda, where Link receives a sword to take on Ganon.
In I Wanna Be the Guy, the scene appears to unfold the same way, even rehashing the iconic text, "It's dangerous to go alone! Take this!," but once you leap to catch the sword, you'll be instantly cleaved into meaty chunks when making contact with the blade.
Because that's not humiliating enough, the Game Over screen even throws up the outrageously insulting message, "You jumped into a sword. You r*tard!"
Anyone playing who was aware of the game's tone and influences beforehand surely knew they were taking some obvious bait, but when have we ever been able to resist to allure of a giant, shiny sword?
